When it comes to the mainstream media, sometimes the problem isn’t what they report on, but rather what they don’t report on.
It was recently revealed that during her time as Secretary of State under President Obama, former democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was busy cutting sweetheart deals with Russia, ultimately giving them direct access to government agencies and some of our most crucial natural resources. Indeed, if the liberal media is so concerned about collusion with the Russians, then perhaps they should be spending more of their time addressing Hillary Clinton, and less time slandering the president of the United States. (Related: Hillary Clinton took $145 million from the Russians to sell out the U.S. uranium supply to America’s enemies)
Sadly, yet predictably, that is not what they are doing. Instead of talking about collusion day in and day out between Hillary Clinton and the Russians, the same way they have about Donald Trump, networks like CNN and MSNBC have remained almost completely silent. This is because despite all of the hype and the nonstop calls for federal investigations, the liberals are only outraged over collusion with the Russians when it’s a Republican – such as Donald Trump – that is at the center of the controversy. But when one of their own does practically the same exact thing that they have been accusing Donald Trump of doing for an entire year now, it’s suddenly irrelevant and brushed under the rug. It is this sort of phoniness and selective outrage that the American people are growing tired of, and the proof lies in the 2010, 2014 and 2016 elections.
Of course, Hillary Clinton herself was quick to dismiss the allegations as she always does. During an appearance on C-Span earlier this week, the former Secretary of State claimed that the collusion accusations have been “debunked repeatedly.”
“It’s the same baloney they’ve been peddling for years, and there’s been no credible evidence by anyone,” Hillary said. “The closer the investigation about real Russian ties between Trump associates and real Russians … the more they want to just throw mud on the wall, and I’m their favorite target, me and President Obama,” Clinton said. “We are the ones they like to put in the crosshairs.”
What the former Secretary of State fails to understand is that it’s not President Trump, Fox News and the Republican Party that has thrown her in the crosshairs; she put herself in this position. Unlike the fake news mainstream media, conservatives don’t have to come up with twisted arguments and manufacture phony scandals in order to take down political opposition. Conservatives rely on the truth, while the progressive Left relies on lies, rhetoric and propaganda.
President Trump responded to the news about Hillary Clinton and the Uranium One deal with the Russians during a brief discussion with reporters as he was leaving the White House earlier this week. “The uranium sale to Russia and the way it was done was so underhanded,” the President said. “With tremendous amounts of money being passed, I actually think that’s Watergate: modern age.”
Later, during an impromptu speech, President Trump criticized the mainstream media for the way that they portray him: “I went to an Ivy League college,” Trump reminded people. “I’m a very intelligent person. I think the press creates a different image of Donald Trump than the real person.”
Indeed, the mainstream media does try to portray President Trump in a negative light, which is exactly why they obsessively reported on the Trump-Russia allegations for months while sweeping news about Hillary Clinton working with the same regime under the rug. Trump is a direct threat to everything that the progressive Left stands for, and so in their minds, lying and selective reporting are justified if it means tearing him down.
