To deny that the Obama administration was not among the most corrupt in U.S. history is to defy truth and evidence, more of which has just emerged to prove the claim.
A Freedom of Information Act lawsuit filed by two groups — the American Center for Law and Justice and Judicial Watch — has turned up 413 pages of Department of Justice Documents indicating that President Obama’s second attorney general, Loretta Lynch, used a fake email account to conduct government business, The Daily Caller has reported.
Both of those groups had filed FOIA lawsuits seeking information about Lynch’s famous meeting with former President Bill Clinton on an airport tarmac in Arizona — just days before former FBI Director James Comey announced that, despite overwhelming evidence, the bureau was not going to recommend Hillary Clinton be prosecuted for mishandling classified information. As The Daily Caller noted further:
Using the pseudonym “Elizabeth Carlisle,” Lynch corresponded with DOJ press officials to hammer out talking points in response to media requests about the meeting. The tarmac encounter drew criticism from conservatives because Lynch was overseeing the federal investigation into whether Hillary Clinton mishandled classified information on her private email system.
What’s important to note is that the meeting was not divulged by Lynch, Clinton or the Department of Justice; rather, it was reported by a local Phoenix journalist who was working off a tip.
On June 28, a reporter with the Phoenix ABC affiliate contacted the Justice Department seeking confirmation of, and information about, the meeting. According to newly revealed internal Justice Department emails, the reporter’s request touched off a hastened effort to come up with several talking points and statements to respond to the fast-developing story.
In other words, Lynch’s DoJ was trying to figure out how to spin the highly unusual and inappropriate meeting, given that the former president’s wife was the subject of a criminal investigation by an agency that fell under Lynch’s control.
In the end, Lynch helped craft her own spin using her Elizabeth Carlisle account — which was hosted by the DoJ’s email system.
The Daily Caller reported that Lynch’s attorney, Robert Raben, confirmed that his client did indeed email under the pseudonym, referencing an article published in February by The Hill, in which Justice Department officials acknowledged publicly that Lynch was using a fake name to email people.
That same article noted that Lynch’s predecessor, Eric Holder, used a pseudonym while he was serving as attorney general, as well. He used the name Lew Alcindor, NBA great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s birth name before he converted to Islam. The Hill reported:
A Justice Department spokesperson said in a statement that the current attorney general, Loretta Lynch, uses a government email account but also “does not use her given name in the handle of her email address.”
“That address was and is known to the individuals who process [Freedom of Information Act] requests; the practice, similar to using initials or numbers in an email, helps guard against security risks and prevent inundation of mailboxes,” Raben said.
Sure.
But what this practice also allows is for government officials to hide and avoid federal record-keeping and archival requirements, so that if they’re doing something untoward or illegal, they won’t be associated with or identified by documents (like email) created in connection with said activity.
Holder used the same excuse — the aversion to an overflowing email inbox — as his reason for using the Lew Alcindor moniker.
The emails belonging to Elizabeth Carlisle were discovered by followers of Reddit accounts of people who are supportive of President Donald J. Trump. Some of them had come up with a theory that Lynch used her grandmother’s name as her pseudonym, while others opined she broke the law by using a fake name, though apparently it’s not illegal for government officials to do so.
It’s just dishonest.
And, for the record, if Jeff Sessions, Trump’s AG, did something like this, the “mainstream” media would be all over it like it was the biggest scandal in the history of the planet — which just shows you their blatant hypocrisy.
