Hillary Clinton granted her first exclusive post-nomination interview to Chris Wallace and Fox News Sunday and when confronted with direct questions about the terror attacks in Benghazi and her exclusive use of an unauthorized, non-secure email server for government work she lied like a cheap rug.
(Article by Larry O’Connor)
Look at this exchange over the findings of FBI Director James Comey who, while testifying under oath before the House Oversight Committee, confirmed that almost every public statement from Secretary Clinton regarding the email scandal had been false:
Wallace: After a long investigation, FBI Director James Comey said none of those things that you told the American public were true.
Clinton: Chris, that’s not what I heard Director Comey say, and I thank you for giving me the opportunity, in my view, to clarify. Director Comey said my answers were truthful, and what I’ve said is consistent with what I have told the American people, that there were decisions discussed and made to classify retroactively certain of the e-mails. I was communicating with over 300 people in my e-mailing. They certainly did not believe, and had no reason to believe, that what they were sending was classified. In retrospect, different agencies come in and say, well, it should have been, but that’s not what was happening in real time.
As John Sexton pointed out last night, this exchange earned a 4 Pinocchio prize from the Washington Post about an hour after it aired.
Wallace then confronted Clinton with this exchange between Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) and Comey during the Oversight Committee hearing earlier this month.
You remember this moment well, as it cemented in the minds of anyone paying attention that Secretary Clinton lied to the American people for over a year. Here’s how the Washington Postreported the exchange:
GOWDY: “Secretary Clinton said she never sent or received classified information over her email? Was it true?”
Comey replied it wasn’t true.
GOWDY: “Secretary Clinton said there was nothing marked classified either sent or received. Was it true?”
Nope, not true either, Comey essentially said.
GOWDY: “Clinton said, ‘There is no classified material.’ Was that true?”
COMEY: “There was classified material emailed.”
GOWDY: “Secretary Clinton said she used one device. Was that true?”
COMEY: “She used multiple devices during her four years as secretary of state.”
We could go on, but you get the point. Not a pretty conversation for Clinton.
Oh no, WaPo… it was a beautiful conversation for Clinton. Now that we know Clinton is either in complete denial, or is totally protected from any kind of critical or damaging news. Or, of course, she is just a pathological liar. There’s that.
Once again, in case you missed it, when confronted with Comey’s findings Clinton’s first response was: “That’s not what I heard.” When Wallace relayed the exchange from the Oversight Committee, Clinton’s response was a befuddled non-sequitur:
“Well, Chris, I looked at the whole transcript of everything that was said, and what I believe is, number one, I made a mistake not using two different e-mail addresses. I have said that and I repeat it again today. It is certainly not anything I would ever do again. I take classification seriously. I relied on and had every reason to rely on the judgments of the professionals with whom I worked. And so in retrospect, maybe some people are saying, well, among those 300 people they made the wrong call. There was no reason in my view to doubt the professionalism and the determination by the people who work every single day on behave of our country.”
But wait, there’s more…
Clinton was confronted over her obfuscation, hedging and outright lies over the claim that YouTube video was responsible for the terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya. Here’s another remarkable example of pathological obfuscation:
“If you go back and read everything that I said that day, I quoted people who talked about it being terrorism. I had already said it was terrorism, and there was no doubt it was terrorism. I think there has been a confusion in the minds of some, and exploiting that confusion for the advantage of others.”
That is another lie.
The fact is Clinton did not publicly call Benghazi a terror attack until Sept 21, a full ten days after the attacks. (FactCheck)
Sept. 21: Clinton, speaking to reporters before a meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, calls it a “terrorist attack” for the first time. She says, “Yesterday afternoon when I briefed the Congress, I made it clear that keeping our people everywhere in the world safe is our top priority. What happened in Benghazi was a terrorist attack, and we will not rest until we have tracked down and brought to justice the terrorists who murdered four Americans.”
Clinton wasn’t done there.
Wallace pointed out that Pat Smith, mother of Sean Smith who died that night in Benghazi, took to the RNC stage to denounce her actions and accused her of repeating the fiction that a YouTube video was responsible for the deadly attacks the day her sons remains were delivered to her at Joint Base Andrews.
Wallace asked a very good question: “Why would (Mrs. Stevens) lie?”
Clinton condescended and basically called Stevens, grieving mother, a liar:
Chris, my heart goes out to both of them. Losing a child under any circumstances, especially in this case, two State Department employees, extraordinary men both of them, two CIA contractors gave their lives protecting our country, our values. I understand the grief and the incredible sense of loss that can motivate that. As other members of families who lost loved ones have said, that’s not what they heard, I don’t hold any ill feeling for someone who in that moment may not fully recall everything that was or wasn’t said.
Translation: “Mrs. Stevens is consumed with grief. She isn’t thinking straight. She is so delusional because of her grief she has created a complete fantasy where I blame a YouTube video for the loss of her son. ”
Never mind the fact that Mrs. Clinton told the entire world the exact same message and never mind the fact that the President of the United States did the same thing. Never mind the fact that Ambassador Susan Rice told the exact same lie on national television on 5 different news show the Sunday after the attacks.
Hillary Clinton wants you to forget all of those facts and believe her over the memory of Mrs. Stevens.
Looks like Hillary learned all the wrong lessons from her husband when he was president.
